Certificate in Financial Services - Information for Schools

The Certificate in Financial Services is aimed at developing the knowledge and understanding of senior school pupils of the financial services sector. It is aimed at those pupils who may be considering a career in the sector either directly from school or after completing higher education.

The Certificate in Financial Services has been credit rated and levelled by the Scottish Qualifications Authority and has been given a credit rating of 30 points at Level 7 in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework.

Candidates must complete three subjects including the core subject Introduction to Financial Services. Each subject requires around 60 hours of study and is designed as a distance learning course with additional support provided by classroom teachers. The study methods used in the certificate will provide senior pupils with an excellent introduction to the study disciplines they will need to bring to their studies if they opt to go on to higher education.

The course syllabus will give candidates a good knowledge and understanding of financial services, whilst giving them an industry recognised professional qualification. Candidates having this qualification will be seen as more attractive and work ready by employers in this sector.

The Certificate is assessed by a final examination consisting of 100 multiple choice questions and candidates must score 60% or more to pass. All the examinations are available on our on-line assessment system offering frequent testing and instant results. Testing will normally take place in school premises under examination conditions.
