If you are a graduate or have completed a Certificate or Diploma award, you can progress to the Chartered Banker programme. This is our highest level qualification and provides candidates who are looking towards management and senior management positions with a 'skill-set' relevant to their chosen career path. This is the jewel in our 'educational crown' and entitles you to call yourself 'Chartered Banker' and to use the designatory letters MCIBS (Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland) on your business cards and correspondence etc.

Over the last few years, the financial services industry has become an increasingly regulated environment in which to operate. With the regulation of investment advice already well established, mortgage advice regulation came into force in October 2004 and insurance advice regulation quickly followed in January 2005.

It is now becoming essential that anyone who wants to work in these areas of our industry has passed an 'appropriate' examination as determined by the Financial Services Skills Council. The CIOBS has been at the forefront of providing regulatory qualifications and has provided mortgage and investment planning qualifications for many years.
