Naveen

Naveen works as a customer adviser with a bank and was required to pass the UK Financial Services, Regulation & Ethics (ApEx 1) module, part of the RQF examinations.

Having successfully achieved this, he is now keen to extend his knowledge and his career opportunities by embarking on something new.

Naveen may well want to think about going on to complete the Mortgage Advice & Practice Certificate - to do this, he will only require to pass one further examination, the combined Mortgage Advice / Providing Mortgage Advice module (ApEx 5 / H2). Once he passes this, he will then be able to use the status Professional Mortgage Adviser and use the designatory letters 'PMA' after his name and on his business cards etc.

Alternatively, Naveen may consider another RQF route - the Certificate in Investment Planning.

As he has already passed ApEx 1, Naveen just has two more examinations to pass:

  • Investment & Risks (ApEx 2) and
  • Protection & Retirement Planning (ApExes 3 & 4) + H1 (the holistic element which assesses the application of knowledge gained in ApEx's 1, 2, 3 & 4).

Having passed those, Naveen will hold the relevant regulatory qualification which would enable him to provide investment advice to customers (providing of course he is authorised to do so!). He can then also use the status Professional Financial Adviser and use the designatory letters 'PFA'.
