CPD: Questions and Answers
What Counts as CPD Activity?
Often CPD is thought to consist only of courses of formal study or off-the-job training courses. These are valuable sources of CPD but they only form part of a very wide range of activities which count towards CPD. The categories applicable to this scheme give an indication of the broad range of learning opportunities on which members can count.
Who can Participate?
Any category of member who is currently paying an Institute subscription. This includes affiliates, students, associates, members and fellows.
Will I Receive a Certificate?
Assuming you meet the 35 hour requirement and submit your activity log for verification you will be issued with an annual CPD certificate.
Members and fellows who meet these requirements will be issued with a Chartered Banker certificate, which will be valid until the end of the next CPD submission period.
How do I Record My Activity?
All CPD activity should be recorded in your personal activity log. You should complete each of the columns as fully as possible and ensure that the activity is confirmed by the course organiser or by your line manager. If you attend a district centre meeting which counts towards CPD an official of the centre should stamp or sign your card.
You should also ensure that you keep copies of any certificates or papers which record that you passed an examination, completed a course of study, attended a conference or other CPD event. This information may be required to meet the evidence requirements for CPD.
The CPD year runs from 1 January to 31 December and the 35 hours requirement must be achieved within that time to qualify. Personal activity logs should be submitted in the two month period from 1 December to 31 January.
