The Scottish Banking Forum

The Scottish Banking Forum, now in its sixth season, provides a unique environment for senior executives from banking organisations to meet and discuss the key issues affecting the industry. Each event takes a thought leadership approach in sharing industry insights and practical experiences from a selection of PricewaterhouseCoopers industry experts.

Registration Details

The Forum is aimed at senior professionals from the banking sector in Scotland and you are invited to attend as many of the seminars as you wish. There is a small cover charge of £35 for CIOBS members and £45 for non-members for each seminar. Cheques should be made payable to The Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland.

The Scottish Banking Forum will be held in the Sheraton Grand Hotel, 1 Festival Square, Edinburgh (except for the session taking place on Tues 27 May, which will take place in Glasgow. Venue to be confirmed). The hotel has 70 parking spaces which are available on a first-come-first-served basis. For those travelling by train, the hotel is approximately five minutes walk from Haymarket station.

Financial Crime

Financial crime is a serious business risk, with one in two UK companies reporting an incident. Organisations which have been fortunate enough not to have suffered from fraud should learn fromthose companies which have. At this session, we will discuss the key trends in economic crime, key measures which can be taken to help prevent it happening and we will also look at the results of the FSA industry wide thematic review on data compromise and financial crime.

Wealth managers driving for success: Becoming tomorrow's elite

This session addresses how wealth managers need to change their business models in order to become more successful, including delivering on the strategy, implementing systems and processes, developing and retaining CRMs, and managing risk. It explores these issues in detail and suggests the building blocks required to become one of tomorrow's elite wealth management organisations. For an industry that is seeking to become more client-centric in response to changing demands, this thought-leadership is an important read.

Banking Banana Skins 2008

The Banking Banana Skins survey, published by the CSFI inassociation with PricewaterhouseCoopers, will publish its 12th banana skins survey of leading members of the finance industry to find out their concerns about the soundness of the financial markets, this month. The forum will discuss the 30 potential risks to banks identified by the survey and rank them according to severity.
