Chartered Banker

The Chartered Banker programme is the flagship professional education programme of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland. The programme is designed for those who wish to develop as managers and business specialists in banking and financial services. It is the most prestigious qualification in the world for bankers and financial services practitioners recognising the skills, knowledge and professionalism which they possess.

On successful completion of the programme candidates can use the status of 'Chartered Banker' and the designation of Member of Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland (MCIBS).

The Chartered Banker programme will give successful candidates extensive and detailed knowledge of the financial services industry and the changing context in which it operates. Candidates will develop a range of skills and techniques in financial services management at a professional level. The programme will also develop the candidate's ability to apply knowledge and understanding of business and management by critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of complex issues.

The Chartered Banker programme is studied on a distance learning basis with students being supported in the their studies by a blend of workbooks, tutor led sessions, assignments and on-line support. The Chartered Banker programme is normally studied over a period of 2 to 4 years depending on experience and prior qualifications. Exemptions are available for graduate entrants.
