About Us

Events

The CIOBS run a considerable number of events throughout the year, ranging from formal dinners to CPD seminars and networking golf days. These events form an integral part of the work of the Institute and although some may be of a purely social nature they all have a worthwhile and important place in the Institute's calendar.

CPD Seminars.

Each year CIOBS hosts a number of CPD seminar series providing both industry relevant information as well as excellent networking opportunities. Many of these seminars are hosted in partnership with leading organisations such as PWC, the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Hay Group.

Each year the Institute also hosts an International Chartered Banker conference. This event provides seminar sessions on a range of key industry topics as well as personal development sessions. Open to all members of the CIOBS, this conference is hosted in association with Ernst & Young LLP.

Dinners

Each year Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Fife, Glasgow and Inverness district centres run dinners to bring both members and key business people within their vicinity together for an evening of networking and socialising. Additionally, each year London and Perth district centres run very successful Burns suppers, with over 1000 bankers and their guests attending the London event. The Institute also hosts a Fellows Event and Dinner annually and every two years we host the Biennial Dinner which brings togther the leaders of Scotland's financial services community.

CPD Competitions

CIOBS currently runs two CPD competitions, one for Young Bankers and the other on ethics. These events aim to showcase the best talent in the Scottish financial services community.
